Cutting Pavers

Smart Precast recommends leaving the cutting of all concrete pavers to the very last. Using a bench drop saw from a local Hire Company with a diamond blade selected for hard wetcast paving slabs will ensure both a clean and accurate cut line. Please ensure that you receive a full run down on the safe and proper use of the drop saw before leaving the Hire Yard and that you wear protective earmuffs, safety glasses and gloves Handling Fresh Concrete - Health & Safety PDF . Should your drop saw be equipped with a water intake then please use this to help keep down dust, lubricate the blade and reduce blade cutting noise. To ensure economic use of your equipment hire time - measure up, check and re-measure, then mark your paver cuts with a builders pencil, then check the markings before collecting the saw.

Should you wish Smart Precast can cut your selected pavers for you within our yard for a small fee per individual cut. Simply measure and mark your pavers and drop them into our yard. Smart Precast will advise you when they will be ready to collect - generally 24hrs later.

URGENT NOTE: Please ensure that you promptly clean-up and remove all of the concrete 'dusting' created when cutting concrete - from the entire paving surface. The addition of water to this dusting is enough to promptly restart ' hydration' of the concrete slurry, causing the dusting to set hard again and result in an unsightly mess on your paving surface which will be impossible to remove. Please ensure that no concrete dusting wash down water enters into the stormwater drains as this by-product is harmfull to aquatic life.
