Paving Slab Storage
Paving Slab Storage. It is important to store your paving slabs vertically up off
the ground as they are placed on the pallet, back to back, front to front with foam
in-between the front faces. Do not store your pavers horizontally as unnecessary
top weight on the bottom pavers on uneven terrain could cause these pavers to crack.
When stored cover your un-laid pavers from extreme’s of weather (hot / cold / wet)
until laid. Always keep your pavers covered on the pallet until they are ready to
be laid if you can.
The enemy of concrete that causes the highly visual and random change in surface
appearance is water. Concrete requires water to continue to cure or harden, this
curing takes many, many years - subject to the amount of water available to the
concrete over time. The chemical properties within young concrete are always thirsty
for water. Any moisture provided to the surface of the concrete in the form of complete
or partial surface coverage will cause that area of wet concrete to change (cure)
more quickly, especially change more visually than that area kept dry.

Once laid the rule of thumb is that all of your paving is then subjected to the
same general weather conditions, therefore aging and changing together to form the
unique weathered patterns shown within this website. Acceptions to this rule do
exist, such as pavers under house eaves, shaded and heavily wet areas.
Smart Precast upright paver pallets generally hold 48 paving slabs per pallet and
